GIVEAWAY-- PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD!

I am so worried that I am not reaching enough women so today I came up with an idea.
IF YOU HAVE A GIVEAWAY THEY WILL COME. LOL
We all love to win something so I am going to give this little guy away. I made him
with my very own hands, and he is cute if I say so myself.
To win him all you have to do is read through my posts and in comments
LIST FOUR SYMPTOMS OF OVARIAN CANCER. I feel if you have to list them they will stick in your mind and maybe they will help
save a life. When you enter your comment I will enter your name into the hat, if you post this on your
Blog I will enter it two more times. So come on join in, lets get the word out.
Most women have no idea what the symptoms are and are being misdiagnosed.
It has to stop.
This giveaway will start now and I will draw the winner on Nov 23rd, in honor of my mom who
lost her battle with lung cancer on that day.

I somehow found your post and was amazed at the symptoms for ovarian cancer! My mom had this cancer over 20 years ago and had no symptoms, other then weight gain. The cyst was larger then a basketball in her uturus. They got it all by doing a complete hyserectamy. (please excuse my spelling)
I did not know that
weight gain, pain during intercourse, urinary symptoms, and back pain were symptoms.
My mom is fine now and did not even have to have chemo.
Please don`t forget to get your mammagrams, and pap tests, they just might save your life!!

Bloating, fatigue, fullness when eating, stomach pain.

Been thru it with my Mom, bless her heart, and bless yours. Hang in there girl.

I agree we need to do something about it. My mom went undiagnosed for six months, finally insisted on a cat scan, that's when tumor found, but it had already spread.

I will always be available to talk to you. mjames@thwinc.com

What a great initiative, Debra! So glad you are doing this. I never really knew the symptoms either, till a dear friend of mine got ovarian cancer too. Luckily she was early in recognizing the symptoms and she has survived for a year now, but doctors say she will never be healed.
So the symptoms are:
1. Unsual fatique
2. Adbominal bloating
3. Sudden weight gain/loss
4. Unexplained change in bowels

I will put your link on my blog, hoping many will read it!

Hi Deb,
So sad to read the story about your sister-in law. I wonder just how many of us fob off those symptoms, and put it down to something else.
Four signs of Ovarian Cancer are lack of an appetite, weight loss or weight gain, lack of energy, and abdominal pain!
I know I'll certainly be paying more attention to my body now and what it is telling me!

Thank you so much for doing this! I have a dear friend in my little quilt group that has been fighting ovarian cancer for over five years now. It's been a continual frustration to us that so very much is done for breast cancer - we need the same efforts for ovarian cancer. Unlike breast cancer, OC is usually not found until it is too late. Our friend thought she was going in to have an ovarian cyst removed - and so did her doctor. They found OC instead, and it had already spread to her bowel. We've all been spreading the word on OC since then. But enough has not been done.

Better include some symptons before I forget:

Shortness of breath
Unusual fatigue
Change in bowel habits
Unexplained post menopausal bleeding

One thing you may not know is about the efforts of Blank Fabric Company. The have produced several lines of fabric specifically to inform about OC, and collect blocks made with their fabrics which they put into quilts that are then auctioned to raise money for OC research. Our friend Peggy was their third featured quilter with OC and had a quilt dedicated to her. All our blocks went into that quilt. To learn more go to www.blankquilting.com and click on Inspiration Guild. Finally other fabric manufacturers have come around. I bought a wonderful set of reproduction fabrics this fall - can't remember the manufacturer - but they were specifically for raising money for OC.

Thank you again! I'd love to win your little guy!

Hi Debra...have only just read about your giveaway and your reasons for doing this.
I'm with you 100%!! Good on you!!
Firstly I'd like to say how very sorry I am that Karen lost her battle to OC. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies.
I love what you're doing, because my dearest and oldest friend suffers OC herself. She and those with her having been fighting alongside for 2 years now...She has been very well for the past year and has just received the bad news that's she's facing it full on again.
God bless you!
It seems there are so many out there who uffer form this disease...one amongst many.

Your snowman is beautiful and if I did win it, I'd give it to my friend.

Symptoms: bloating, painful intercourse, back pain, bowel habit changes.
hugs
Robyn xx

PS Your blog is goooorrrrgeous!!!! :D

Debra Facer said...

You have been entered into my giveaway, and I feel so blessed to have gotten your post..Hugs Deb
